I once had a sweet gray big male brave love cat named Frank. He was a traveler, a snuggler, an adventure cat all the way. One of those big male cats I wanted to bury my face in when times were tough. He was always there with much purring to reassure me that ALL IS WELL.

When you don’t paint every single bit of your art it becomes Mixed Media. You can see here that I’ve used an existing background. Lots of artists do this, it is perfectly acceptable. I’ve been experimenting because I have a new-found respect for all of you mixed media artists. I created the butterfly woman and put her on top of the mountainous background, adding some flowers. The hard-core part of me says this is cheating, but my mind knows it is not, just a new way of expressing.

Abstract art is FUN!! Usually I have to transfer an idea, an image, from my brain, onto paper. A person needs to mostly look like a person, a bird a bird, you get the idea. Abstract art, ha! No such thing. Time to play, I hope you enjoy!

This one is a bit more dark. With eye-popping colors most of the time, this one is like a cool breeze or slipping on my shades. I have darker moments too ya know. But this was fun to make too. See the fork textures again, and more circles. The bright colors on top are what I like about this!

Wow, making this was fun. I joined a swap on the fabulous atcsforall.com and we had a specific assignment. The object was to HAVE FUN! All the art in the swap and mostly on the site is 2.5″ x 3.5″, small. Something called Gel Medium exists. This stuff is sort of like spreadable glue. You use a paintbrush or similar and put it on your surface. Now the fun starts, etch into it, scratch into it, mar it mark it make it yours! You can see I pushed something round and at the bottom, yep, fork tines. I told you it was fun. Now you wait for it to dry. Then, paint it. Then rub some paint off. Wait for that first layer of paint to dry. Then maybe just dry-brush some paint on, wait for that to dry. You can see I used blue purple green yellow and on the very top red. The gel medium once dry is durable so you can go over and over and over it with as many layers, until you get your masterpiece. Enjoy!
